Neil Patrick Harris has apologized after a morbid joke he made about the death of Amy Winehouse resurfaced.

Harris presented a buffet tray made to look like Winehouse’s corpse just months after his death in 2011.

“A photo recently surfaced at a Halloween-themed party my husband and I threw 11 years ago,” Harris told Entertainment Weekly in a statement. “It was unfortunate then, and it remains unfortunate today. Amy Winehouse was a once-in-a-generation talent, and I’m sorry for any hurt that image caused.”

A photo of the meat platter resurfaced on the internet recently. The image was originally posted by Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s husband, Justin Mikita.

Both were present at the party.

He wrote, “Look who showed up at the @ActuallyNPH & @GourmetMD Halloween party last night. Looks good.”

The tweet was quickly deleted at the time.

Although many believed the platter to be a cake, it actually consisted of “beef ribs, pulled pork, chicken sausages in a spicy BBQ sauce”.

The corpse had the same hairstyle as Winehouse and his tattoos.
