Canibus has been teasing fans with a new EP produced by Pete Rock over the past few months. However, Pete Rock not only denied his involvement in the project, but publicly dismissed it on Twitter.
“I WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER PRODUCE ANYTHING THAT SOUNDS THAT BAD OMG THIS IS A THIRSTY MOVE FROM CANIBUS PEOPLE BUT IT DOESN’T SOUND GOOD WTF OMG you gotta stop being so thirsty and disrespectful,” the producer wrote legendary with an EP cover post. “That’s how you keep running through the mud, it’s super trash lol.”
The producer slammed Canibus and his project in later tweets, while taking pictures of the rapper’s entire legacy. Pete Rock’s posts prompted Canibus manager M80 to respond and claim that the producer was not only involved in the project, but paid for his services.
“Thank goodness I will never be as nerdy as @PeteRock,” M80 tweeted. “First sued @Nas, then saying he didn’t authorize the EP with @DaRealCanibus that I paid him for and had the bank receipts, production approval and credit note guest artist approval. Tried to get paid another $3,000 or he acts.”
M80 also released alleged messages and receipts to refute Pete Rock’s previous claims. He also threatened the producer with a lawsuit for libel and slander.
